Türkiye’s national women’s volleyball team wrapped up the first stage of the 2024 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against host nation China in Beijing, completing the round with an unblemished record.
Facing China in the final match of the opening stage, the Turkish squad delivered a resilient performance, edging out the host team over five competitive sets. The encounter marked their fourth consecutive win, following earlier triumphs over France, Thailand, and Poland.
Alexia Carutasu led the Turkish side with an impressive 37-point contribution, making her the highest scorer of the match and a standout figure in the team’s dominant performance throughout the stage.
With their first-round sweep complete, Türkiye now looks ahead to the second leg of the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Istanbul from June 18 to 22. The national team will aim to build on its early momentum as it continues its campaign in front of a home crowd.
