Türkiye's para judo team finished the 2026 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Judo Grand Prix in Astana, Kazakhstan with five medals—two silver and three bronze—after two days of competition at the tournament held May 12–13.
The event brought together 137 athletes from 24 countries, according to the Turkish Judo Federation (TJF).
On the second day of the competition, Duygu Cete claimed silver in the J2 women's 70-kilogram category. Merve Uslu Hajabipour took bronze in the J1 women's 60-kilogram category, while Esmer Taskin added another bronze in the J1 women's 70-kilogram category.
Türkiye also secured a silver medal on the first day of the tournament, bringing the team's final tally to 2 silver and 3 bronze.
The IBSA-organized event serves as a key competitive platform for visually impaired judokas. Para judo has been part of the Paralympic program since the 1988 Seoul Games.
Türkiye has maintained a consistent presence in international para judo circuits in recent years. The national team competes across IBSA-sanctioned events as part of its preparation for major Paralympic qualifying competitions.
The Astana Grand Prix is among the stops on the 2026 IBSA Judo calendar, which feeds into the broader Paralympic qualification pathway ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
