Türkiye seal Group C lead after 82-75 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina

Türkiye’s national men’s basketball team defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 82-75 away from home in the fifth game of Group C in the first round of the FIBA 2027 World Cup European Qualifiers, making it five wins from five and securing group leadership before the final round of games.

The team known in Türkiye as “12 Dev Adam,” meaning “12 Giant Men,” came through a difficult away game after trailing at halftime, then pulled ahead in the second half to keep up its perfect qualifying run.

Türkiye come through after tight first half

Bosnia and Herzegovina started the game strongly and finished the first quarter 18-17 ahead. The home side also held the advantage at halftime, leading 39-34 after the second quarter.

Türkiye, coached by Ergin Ataman, fought back after the break and moved ahead by the end of the third quarter, taking a 59-57 lead. The national team then held on in the final period to close out the game 82-75.

Group lead secured before Switzerland game

With this result, Türkiye reached five wins in five matches in Group C and guaranteed top spot before the final game of the group stage.

Türkiye will face Switzerland in their final match of the group, while the victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina gives the team a strong finish to build on before that game.

Squad shaped by injury absence

Onuralp Bitim was removed from the squad because of injury before the Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland games.

The candidate squad includes Adem Bona, Alperen Sengun, Ercan Osmani, Erkan Yilmaz, Sehmus Hazer, Kenan Sipahi, Malachi Flynn, Berk Ibrahim Ugurlu, Sertac Sanli, Yigit Arslan, Tarik Biberovic, Yigit Onan, Furkan Korkmaz, Yigitcan Saybir, Cedi Osman, Omer Faruk Yurtseven and Emre Melih Tunca.
