Türkiye will begin its Women’s Volleyball World Championship journey on Staurday when it faces Spain in the opening match of Group E.
The match will be played at Korat Chatchai Sports Hall, with the first serve set for 3:30 p.m. (GMT+3).
Drawn as a seeded team, Türkiye is placed directly in Group E, where it will compete against Spain, Bulgaria, and Canada for a place in the round of 16.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage. The round of 16 will see group winners and runners-up paired across groups (A-H, D-E, B-G, C-F), with the winners moving on to the quarterfinals. The tournament will then progress to the semifinals, a third-place match, and the final.
Türkiye’s roster features several experienced players, led by long-time captain Eda Erdem Dundar. The veteran middle blocker will compete in her fifth World Championship, having also appeared in 2006, 2010, 2018, and 2022.
She is joined by setters Cansu Ozbay and Elif Sahin, outside hitters Melissa Vargas, Ebrar Karakurt, Hande Baladin, Derya Cebecioglu, Ilkin Aydin, and Yaprak Erkek, as well as middle blockers Zehra Gunes and Asli Kalac. The squad also includes Sinead Jack-Kisal, libero Gizem Orge, and Eylul Akarcesme Yatgin.
This year marks Türkiye’s sixth consecutive appearance at the Women’s World Championship since debuting in 2006.
The team finished 10th in its first appearance, before achieving its best result in 2010 with a sixth-place finish after recording seven wins and seven losses. Subsequent campaigns saw Türkiye place 9th in 2014, 10th in 2018, and 8th in 2022.
