Türkiye claimed three bronze medals at the Under-23 European Wrestling Championships in Zrenjanin, Serbia, with Alperen Berber, Sevval Cayir, and Tuba Demir all reaching the podium, lifting the country's overall medal tally to six.
As reported by the Türkiye Wrestling Federation, Berber took part in the men’s freestyle 87 kg category.
Although he lost his initial match to Russia’s Imam Aliev 12-3, his opponent’s advance to the final granted Berber a repechage chance. He then defeated Ukraine’s Vladislav Solodchuk 10-0 by technical superiority and went on to overcome Norway’s Martin Ljosaak 10-2, again by technical superiority, to clinch third place.
In the women’s 53 kg category, Sevval Cayir opened with an 8-5 loss to Ukraine’s Anastasia Polska. She came back strong in the bronze medal match, dominating Azerbaijan’s Nergiz Samadova, taking the first period 8-0 and closing out 12-0 by technical superiority.
Claiming Türkiye’s third bronze of the championships, Tuba Demir triumphed in the women’s 55 kg category by defeating Belarus’s Valerya Mikitsich through technical superiority in the final for third place.
