Turkish Airlines' women's volleyball team will not compete in a pre-season tournament in Italy after visa applications for several players were not processed in time, organizers announced.

The club, which plays in Türkiye's Sultans League, the country's top women's volleyball division, had been scheduled to face Italian sides Chieri, Bergamo and Firenze during the warm-up event ahead of the new season. Italian club Millenium Brescia will take Turkish Airlines' place in the tournament.

Details on visa delays undisclosed

No information was released on which players were affected by the visa delays or why their applications went unresolved.

The tournament forms part of preparations for the upcoming Sultanlar Ligi season, in which Turkish Airlines is one of the leading clubs.
