Türkiye’s National Basketball Team has made a strong start at EuroBasket 2025, winning both opening games and gearing up for a crucial match against Serbia.
After defeating Czechia, young forward Adem Bona shared his thoughts with Meridian Sport on the team’s performance and upcoming challenges.
“I feel great playing with the national team… The important thing is that we secured our second win. We are improving day by day,” Bona said.
“Czechia was a very strong team; they really challenged us, but we gave a fantastic fight.”
Bona talked about moving from Nigeria to Türkiye at a young age. “Leaving Nigeria with my mother for a completely new country was a huge experience. It taught me how to adapt to new environments.”
He added that basketball became his path after growing taller, moving away from his childhood passion for football.
“I always wanted to be a footballer like Patrick Vieira. But as I grew, I discovered my love for basketball.”
Choosing Türkiye for his international career wasn’t easy. “Most of my basketball memories are tied to Türkiye. I developed my career here, and I wanted to honor Turkish basketball culture. My goal was always to wear the National Team jersey, and I achieved it.”
Looking ahead to the Serbia match, Bona teased, “They are one of the best national teams in the world, with young and experienced players. Of course, Nikola Jokic is their key player. But we have our own weapons. We prepared a special surprise for Jokic and Serbia.”
