Promising Türkiye international Yasin Ozcan has joined Belgian club Anderlecht on a season-long loan from Premier League side Aston Villa. However, the club initially misspelled his name in the official welcome graphic, drawing swift attention from fans.

The 19-year-old defender, who signed with Aston Villa in the January transfer window and joined preseason training this summer, will continue his development in the Belgian Pro League with Anderlecht.

The Belgian side welcomed Ozcan with the message:

“Welcome, Yasin. The young Turkish defender joins Anderlecht on loan from Aston Villa.”

But fans quickly noticed that in the graphic accompanying the post, Yasin’s first name was incorrectly written as “Yanis.”

Shortly afterward, Anderlecht updated the graphic, correcting the error and re-sharing the post with the correct spelling: Yasin Ozcan. The quick response was praised by fans.

Rising star from Türkiye

Ozcan is considered one of Türkiye’s most promising young defenders. Last season, he made 34 appearances for Kasimpasa, scoring once and assisting twice before moving to England.

His strong positional awareness, composure on the ball, and versatility have made him a standout among the new wave of Turkish talents moving to Europe.
