Galatasaray has brought in 18-year-old winger Can Armando Guner, reaching an agreement with both the player and his club Borussia Monchengladbach, the Turkish champions announced.
In an official statement, Galatasaray said that an agreement had been reached with Borussia Monchengladbach for the transfer of the professional footballer, adding that a net transfer fee of €350,000 (nearly $413,000) would be paid to the German club.
The club wording made clear that the payment relates solely to the transfer fee, which is the amount paid to release a player from his existing contract.
Guner holds German citizenship and comes from a multicultural background, with a Turkish father and an Argentine mother. This background has already been reflected in his international experience, as he has worn the shirts of both Germany and Argentina at youth national team level, meaning under-age representative teams that develop players for future senior squads.
The young winger began his football education at the Schalke 04 academy, one of Germany’s best-known youth systems, before moving on to the Borussia Monchengladbach academy.
That pathway allowed him to step into competitive senior football this season, during which he featured in 14 matches for Monchengladbach and scored four goals, showing his ability to contribute in attack from wide areas.
