Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sonmez has progressed to the second round of the women’s doubles event at the Roland Garros, the season’s second Grand Slam.

Partnering with Germany’s Tatjana Maria, Sonmez secured a straight-sets victory in the opening round against French pair Carole Monnet and Estelle Cascino.

The Turkish-German duo claimed the first set 6–2 with a commanding performance, before encountering stronger resistance in the second set. The match was ultimately decided in a tiebreak, where Sonmez and Maria held their composure to close out the set 7–6 and seal the win.
