Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sonmez has progressed to the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 Eastbourne Open after her second-round opponent, Czech player Sara Bejlek, withdrew from the match due to injury.

Bejlek, ranked world No. 45, was scheduled to face Sonmez in the grass-court tournament held in Eastbourne, United Kingdom.

However, she was unable to take to the court, resulting in a walkover victory for the Turkish player.

With the result, Sonmez, currently ranked world No. 54, advances to the quarterfinal stage of the competition without playing the match.

Sonmez will next face the winner of the second-round match between third seed Jelena Ostapenko and Hungary’s Panna Udvardy.
