Zeynep Sonmez's Wimbledon run ends after straight-sets defeat to Liu

Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sonmez has been knocked out of Wimbledon in the second round of the women’s singles competition after a 2–0 defeat to Claire Liu.

In the match played at the All England Club in London, Sonmez was defeated 7–5, 6–3, as Liu advanced to the next round.

The opening set was closely contested, with both players remaining level through much of the set before Liu secured a late break to take it 7–5.

In the second set, the American maintained her advantage, breaking serve at key moments to close out the match 6–3.
