Eight individuals were arrested and detained following a counterterrorism operation targeting Daesh in Yalova, Türkiye.

The operation, led by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, involved coordinated efforts between the Yalova Police Department and the General Directorate of Security’s Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Units.

Coordinated counterterrorism operation against Daesh

The investigation, initiated in February, targeted individuals suspected of having links to Daesh.

A key part of the operation focused on uncovering the movements of Daesh terrorists and their activities in the region.

Authorities confirmed that six suspects, who were attempting to join Daesh through Pakistan and various African countries, were apprehended in the first wave of the operation.

In addition, three other suspects were detained in Yalova based on intelligence, suggesting they were preparing for an attack. On Nov. 29, a simultaneous operation led to the arrest of 11 additional suspects, believed to have direct organizational connections and potential involvement in planned attacks.
