Erdogan leads over opposition, Turks think DEM Party 'linked' to PKK in latest poll

ASAL Research released their latest poll conducted between Jan. 10-14, 2025. The survey was conducted with 1,800 participants across 26 provinces.

When asked, "If the presidential election were held this Sunday, who would you like to see as President?"

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ranked first with 26% of the vote, while Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavas came in second place with 17.3% and Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu came in third place with 14%.

Other notable figures in the survey include:

• Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan: 8.1%
• Main opposition People Republican's Party (CHP) leader Ozgur Ozel: 7.2%
• Drone-magnate Selcuk Bayraktar: 5.9%
• Former presidential candidate CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu: 1.7%
• Other: 5.2%
• No opinion/No response: 11%

The split between Mansur Yavas and Ekrem Imamoglu suggests that a potential contest between the two could remain a topic of discussion in the coming months.

When asked, "Do you think President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and CHP Chairman Ozgur Ozel should continue their meetings?" The results were as follows:

• Yes, they should continue: 45.5%
• No, they should not: 42.6%
• No opinion/No response: 11.9%

DEM Party and PKK organic ties debate

The Kurdish-oriented Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) was also featured in the poll. The survey asked participants, "Do you think the DEM Party has an organic connection with the terrorist organization PKK?"

The majority of respondents, 73%, believe there is an organic connection, while 14.1% disagree. Some 12.9% of participants had no opinion on the matter.
