Mysterious object with Russian inscriptions raises alarm in Black Sea
Amasra’s Coast Guard mobilized quickly when locals near Akkonak Bay discovered a suspicious object in the Black Sea bearing Russian inscriptions
A suspicious object adorned with Russian inscriptions triggered a swift response from the Coast Guard in Amasra, a coastal district of Bartin, on Thursday.
Locals at Akkonak Bay were alarmed by the presence of what they feared might be an explosive device and alerted authorities after capturing images of the item with their cell phones.
The Coast Guard units in Amasra swiftly moved to secure the area around the floating object upon receiving the report. Their initial inspection confirmed that it was not an explosive. They then removed the object from the water to conduct a more detailed examination.
“The object has Russian writings, which makes it crucial for us to conduct a comprehensive investigation to understand what it is exactly and whether it poses any danger,” a Coast Guard spokesperson explained. According to early investigations, the object is likely either a missile or a rocket engine, both of which require careful handling.
The find has heightened security measures around Amasra’s shores, where officials are enforcing maritime safety protocols more rigorously while the investigation is underway. The exact nature and origin of the object will be determined after thorough analysis.
