Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli Saturday made significant remarks regarding Turkish-Kurdish relations following his recent comments about the jailed ringleader of the PKK terrorist group, Abdullah Ocalan.

He emphasized the necessity of mutual affection, stating: “Turks and Kurds must love one another. A Turk who does not embrace Kurds cannot truly be called a Turk and a Kurd who does not embrace Turks cannot truly be called a Kurd.”

Addressing national threats

Emphasizing the importance of unity, Bahceli warned against any competition with the MHP in serving Turkish identity. “On the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, we will not entertain any threats or plans against us. We have learned our lessons from history,” he asserted.

Reiterating the PKK as enemy

Commenting about the subject of terrorism, he said: “The PKK is the enemy of every living being. We must be vigilant against attempts to instill fear among us. They are resorting to intelligence schemes. Let’s stay alert. We are being programmed to fear one another. The terrorist attack on TAI facilities clearly exposed the PKK's collaborators."

"The PKK is an enemy to all living beings. The message has been trampled beneath our feet. The traitors have been eliminated. Our fate lies in our thousand-year brotherhood,” he went on to add.

This reinforces the MHP’s position on combating terrorism and maintaining national security.
