Türkiye won’t yield to pro-Israel lobbies, stands firm for Palestine: Erdogan
Erdogan reaffirmsTürkiye’s unwavering stance against pro-Israel lobbies, emphasizing support for Palestine and economic resilience despite challenges
During an iftar program in Istanbul on Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asserted that Türkiye remains steadfast against the pressures of pro-Israel lobbies.
“We are well aware of those who support Israel and the powerful lobbies behind them. Türkiye has not yielded to these pressures in the past, and we will continue to stand firm,” Erdogan stated.
He highlighted the scarce international opposition to Israel and its Western supporters, noting that apart from Türkiye and a handful of other nations, few have raised their voices against Israeli actions.
Erdogan emphasized Türkiye’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, stating that the country’s efforts have been witnessed by innocent individuals worldwide.
The president condemned the deliberate targeting of hospitals, health care workers, and places of worship by occupying forces in Gaza.
“We do not acknowledge those who unjustly label our Palestinian brothers, who resist oppression, as terrorists,” Erdogan added.
Separately, in the iftar program, Erdogan mentioned that despite the recent challenges posed by the Kahramanmaras earthquake on Türkiye’s economy, the country’s economic resilience remains strong.
He outlined Türkiye’s ambitious economic targets for the year, with an export goal of $375 billion for goods and services, along with a $60 billion target for tourism.
Even amidst the additional challenges posed by the Kahramanmaras earthquake, which incurred a $104 billion burden, Erdogan highlighted Türkiye’s robust economic growth rate of 4.5% for the year.
