United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will pay an official visit to Türkiye on Wednesday (July 16) at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, amid heightened regional instability.
The visit will mark the inaugural meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council, established in 2023, Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said Tuesday on X.
Duran said the two leaders will hold talks at the presidential complex in Ankara, where steps to deepen the strategic partnership between the countries will be discussed..
He added that current regional and global developments will also be on the agenda.
The meeting comes as tensions continue to boil across the Middle East, with Israel's attacks in Gaza ongoing and its recent intervention in southern Syria drawing international condemnation. In Sweida, clashes between Bedouin tribal fighters and Druze militias have left dozens dead and injured.
Meanwhile, Iran and Israel have reached a fragile cease-fire following what U.S. President Donald Trump called a "12-day war." Despite the truce, concerns persist over the possibility of renewed hostilities between the two nations.
