Approximately 250,000 protesters gathered in Amsterdam on Sunday to demonstrate against the Dutch government's pro-Israel policies, marking what organizers called the largest pro-Palestinian rally in the Netherlands' history.

The demonstration, organized by more than 130 civil society organizations under the slogan "Red Line," began at Museum Square in the Dutch capital. Protesters wore red clothing to symbolize their message that the government had crossed a moral boundary.

The crowd marched through Amsterdam's streets before returning to Museum Square, where speakers accused the Dutch government of remaining silent in the face of Israel's actions in Gaza.

Demonstrators demand end to military and political support

"Stop the genocide" banners led the procession, while demonstrators carried signs reading "Not a peace plan, but imperialism," "Boycott Israel," "Stop Israel now," and "Hands off the fleet." Chants of "Government be ashamed, your hands are bloody," "Free Palestine," and "Stop killing children" echoed through the streets.

Protesters demanded that the Dutch government adopt stricter policies toward Israel, including ending military and political support and implementing sanctions against the country.

Rally marks escalation in series of Dutch pro-Palestinian protests

The demonstration represents the culmination of a series of increasingly large pro-Palestinian protests in the Netherlands. A similar "Red Line" rally in The Hague on May 18 drew approximately 100,000 participants, while a June 15 demonstration in the same city attracted around 150,000 people.

The protest coalition included Dutch branches of numerous international civil society organizations alongside local advocacy groups, reflecting broad-based opposition to the government's current Middle East policy stance.

The scale of Saturday's demonstration underscores growing public pressure on Dutch officials to reconsider their approach to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and their diplomatic relationship with Israel.
