Second attack in a week
This incident follows a similarly harrowing attack on Dec. 23 in Brooklyn, where a man set fire to a sleeping woman on a subway using a lighter. The woman tragically died at the scene.
Authorities later apprehended the suspect, who was identified as a Guatemalan migrant who had moved to the United States in 2018.
The back-to-back attacks have raised concerns in New York City as investigations continue.
