U.S. television networks will resume coverage of President Donald Trump's events Friday after CNN's White House access was restored following a federal judge's ruling against the administration's ban on the network, MS NOW and Politico.
CNN reporter Kristen Holmes said the network would cover Trump's visit to the National Archives, where he is scheduled to tour the complex housing U.S. founding documents, including the Constitution, with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"There will be pool coverage," Holmes said Friday from the White House grounds, where CNN's access had been reinstated a day earlier.
Trump barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House complex last week over coverage he said was false or negative.
Their access was restored midday Thursday after a federal judge found the ban likely unconstitutional and ordered the White House to immediately reinstate their access.
The First Amendment case remains before U.S. courts.
The White House television press pool had said it would not resume coverage until CNN was formally reinstated, acting in solidarity with the network.
CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX News and NBC share the costs of covering the president and rotate responsibility for providing pool footage to other news organizations.
The television pool's refusal to set up cameras meant there had been no pool footage of Xi's Washington visit before Friday.
CNN said coverage would resume during the day's events.
"CNN will be at the National Archives. CBS will be having pool coverage here at the White House," Holmes said.
CBS was listed as the pool camera for Friday's events on Trump's public schedule.
