Former Ukrainian Deputy Chief of Staff Andriy Portnov has reportedly been shot and killed in Madrid by unknown assailants, according to early reports.
Portnov was a close aide to ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who was removed from power during the 2014 Euromaidan revolution. He held a prominent role in Yanukovych’s administration and was considered one of his top legal and political advisors.
Further details surrounding the circumstances of the killing and the identity of the attackers have not yet been disclosed.
