Casualties were reported Friday after Yemen’s Houthi group launched another missile attack on the government-controlled Red Sea port of Mocha in southwestern Taiz province, according to pro-government Saba TV.
A military source reportedly told the broadcaster that several missiles struck the port area, causing casualties. The number of people killed or injured was not immediately known, and authorities were still assessing the damage.
The Houthis did not immediately claim responsibility for the Mocha attack.
Mocha is one of Yemen’s key Red Sea ports under the control of the internationally recognized government.
Friday’s attack followed a series of strikes on Mocha and other government-held infrastructure.
The Houthis targeted Mocha port and the district center on Aug. 9 with ballistic missiles and drones, killing and wounding multiple Yemenis.
The port was targeted again by Houthi missiles on Aug. 12.
The latest strike comes amid an escalation in Houthi attacks on government-held infrastructure and maritime interests.
Earlier this week, the Iran-backed group also claimed attacks on commercial vessels in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, including one that reportedly killed several crew members.
Separately, Yemen’s Houthi-affiliated Saba news agency, citing a military source, reported that the group carried out a drone attack on a Saudi Aramco facility in the Saudi city of Najran.
