‘Israel state a drawn up project,’ says Palestinian ambassador
Palestinian Ambassador Mustafa says, ‘Israel is a state drawn up as a project in the region, serving the interests of Western powers” in a panel discussion on the Israel-Palestine conflict
The panel titled “The Israel-Palestine Conflict and the Middle East Impasse,” organized by the Center for Asian Studies Practice and Research (ASYAM) of Ankara Haci Bayram Veli University (AHBV) and moderated by Prof. Dr. Mahir Nakip from Cankaya University, featured Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara, Faed Mustafa, and Prof. Dr. Tevfik Erdem from the Department of Politics and Public Administration at AHBV Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences as speakers.
Speaking at the opening of the panel, ASYAM Director Prof. Dr. Varis Cakan recalled how the Palestinian geography, once a place where all religions, tolerance, and peace coexisted following the Second World War, was divided into three. He emphasized that Palestinians have reacted strongly against the unjust and unfair division imposed on them by Israel.
Cakan pointed out that Israel continues to occupy Palestinian territories with illegal Jewish settlers, leading to significant international backlash.
“Israel is a state drawn up as a project”
Ambassador Mustafa stressed the importance of understanding and conveying the details of history, highlighting that the events in Palestine have a history spanning 107 years.
He emphasized that the process starting with the Balfour Declaration was not random, noting that these projects were prepared meticulously and well-executed.
Mustafa mentioned how powers targeting the Ottoman Empire in the past also targeted Palestine, and this has continued for centuries. He stated that other powers believed that the establishment of a foreign entity like Israel in the region would negatively impact unity and solidarity.
“Israel is a state drawn up as a project in the region, serving the interests of Western powers. The Palestinian people have become victims of this,” Mustafa said, adding that since October 7, 2023, the “imperialist state” has been supporting Israel because Israel is their biggest project in the region.
“Their goal is from the Euphrates to the Nile”
Since 1917, Mustafa highlighted that they have openly resisted and fought for their rights. He emphasized, “Zionism’s occupation does not just remain in Palestine, it extends beyond. As written at the entrance of the Israeli parliament, their goal is from the Euphrates to the Nile.”
Mustafa underlined that the reason their projects have not succeeded is due to the resistance of the Palestinian people. He warned that if Palestinians had not fought, the “imperialist states” would have begun implementing their goals on a broader scale.
Mustafa also mentioned that they will not forget Arab or Muslim countries that supported them, stating, “We will never forget that Türkiye has always supported and stood by us, both politically and through civil society organizations. Oppression will never continue. Hopefully, soon we will pray together in Jerusalem.”
