Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed Friday that the next round of trilateral talks between Russia, the U.S. and Ukraine is expected to begin Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, with negotiations scheduled to continue for two days, according to Russian state media.

Speaking during a meeting with permanent members of Russia’s Security Council, Putin said he had invited officials who would take part in the talks in the United Arab Emirates.

“Given that the negotiations are expected to take place on Tuesday, I invited colleagues who will participate in these talks,” Putin said, according to RIA Novosti.

Russian state media said the negotiations are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Medinsky to lead Russian delegation

The Kremlin has confirmed Russia’s participation in the Abu Dhabi talks, with presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky set to lead the delegation.

The Security Council meeting was attended by Medinsky, Igor Kostyukov, Yuri Ushakov, Mikhail Galuzin and Sergei Ryabkov, according to Tass.

Putin said the officials had been invited because of their planned participation in the negotiations.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff previously said the parties intend to discuss security guarantees, de-escalation, humanitarian issues and further steps toward a peaceful settlement.

The talks will bring together representatives from Russia, the U.S. and Ukraine in the UAE capital as negotiations over the war continue.
