Russia said Monday it would give an "appropriate response" to the latest sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom and the European Union over alleged Russian cyber and hybrid operations across Europe.

"Moscow will give an appropriate response," the Russian Foreign Ministry told state news agency RIA in response to a question about the expansion of sanctions by London and Brussels.

Earlier on Monday, the U.K. Foreign Office announced new sanctions imposed jointly with the EU, saying they targeted the Russian state's "persistent and increasingly reckless attempts to sow chaos and division across Europe."

"The Russian state and its criminal networks responsible for orchestrating cyber-attacks, interfering in elections and spreading malicious anti-Ukraine narratives across Europe have today been sanctioned by the U.K.," the statement said.

It said the latest sanctions target 24 individuals and entities behind "destructive cyber and hybrid operations, including cybercriminals involved in proxy networks," which London said are linked to Russian intelligence.

"Together with our partners, Britain will continue to call out this behavior, bolster our resilience and respond to the hybrid threat posed by the Russian state. This will not deter us from supporting Ukraine," U.K. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper was quoted as saying.

Kremlin calls Ukraine allies 'warmongers'

The Kremlin also dismissed a Paris summit bringing together Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and key allies, known as the Coalition of the Willing, describing the group as leaders who "do not want peace."

"This is a coalition of warmongers," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

He accused the countries of wanting to "continue the war" and said Moscow would be watching the summit "closely."

"These are the countries that are undertaking hostile actions against Russia, so we will be watching very closely," he added.

Russia, Ukraine report deadly overnight attacks

Russia and Ukraine accused each other on Monday of launching overnight attacks that killed at least four people and injured 16 others.

In Russia, three people were killed and five others injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Moscow region, Gov. Andrey Vorobyov said on the Russian social media platform Max.

More than 350 Ukrainian drones targeted the Moscow region overnight, with most intercepted before reaching the capital, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Telegram.

One person was killed and two others injured in Ukrainian attacks on Russia's Belgorod region, the regional operational headquarters said on Telegram.

In the village of Vyazniki in the Stavropol region, a drone struck an industrial zone and sparked a fire, Gov. Vladimir Vladimirov said on Telegram.

Telegram channels earlier reported that a fire broke out at an oil depot near a railway line in Vyazniki.

Russia's Defense Ministry said its forces intercepted and destroyed 342 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory, annexed Crimea and the Azov and Black seas.

The ministry also said Russian forces carried out strikes that damaged port infrastructure in Chornomorsk in Ukraine's Odesa region.

Ukraine reports injuries in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia

In Ukraine, three people were injured when a Russian strike hit a parking lot in the Odesa region, local authorities said.

Russian attacks also injured six people and damaged residential buildings in the Zaporizhzhia region, Gov. Ivan Fedorov said on Telegram.

Ukraine's General Staff said its air defense systems shot down 123 Russian drones in the north, south and east of the country.

The claims by both sides could not be independently verified because of the ongoing war.
