Suicide bombing targets recruits near Damaanyo Military Base in Mogadishu

A suicide bombing occurred near the Damaanyo Military Base in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

According to local sources, the attacker detonated explosives in an area where recruits were waiting in line to register for the Somali National Army.

Casualties, including both fatalities and injuries, have been reported.

Eyewitness Abshir Siyaad told Anadolu Agency (AA), “It was a terrible explosion. There were bodies all around,” describing being close to the scene at the time of the blast.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Security measures in the area have been heightened as investigations continue.

An official inquiry into the incident has been launched.
