U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday rejected reports that American ammunition stocks are running low, saying the country has more munitions than it expects to use and is producing them at unprecedented levels.
“The cowards and traitors would love to say the United States is low on munitions. It’s not true,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“We have more munitions than we could ever possibly think of using, and are building them up now at levels we have never seen before,” he added.
Trump’s comments followed recent media reports suggesting that the war that began with joint U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran had reduced U.S. ammunition stocks.
A Sept. 14 report by a Pentagon inspector also said the conflict had contributed to ammunition shortages and created “bottlenecks” in U.S. supply chains.
Trump disputed those assessments, maintaining that U.S. ammunition supplies remain sufficient and that production is being increased to record levels.
