Türkiye has dispatched a truckload of medicines and medical consumables to Venezuela to support relief efforts following the recent devastating earthquake, Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu announced. This shipment marks the next phase of Turkish humanitarian assistance, building upon the emergency medical teams already active on the ground.
Writing on the social media platform NSosyal, Memisoglu confirmed that the medical supplies were sent out to address critical healthcare needs created by the disaster.
This material aid complements the ongoing deployment of UMKE (National Medical Rescue Team) units previously assigned to the earthquake zone. UMKE serves as Türkiye's dedicated emergency health response branch, specialized in medical rescue operations and field support during major disasters.
Memisoglu described health as a universal value that goes beyond national borders and said Türkiye would continue to stand by people in need.
"To help heal the wounds of the earthquake disaster in Venezuela, after our UMKE teams serving in the field, we have now sent a truckload of medicines and medical consumables to the region," he said.
He added that Türkiye would continue to support those waiting for help through what he described as a cross-border movement of goodwill.
