NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte announced that the 2026 NATO Summit will be held at Türkiye's Presidential Complex in Bestepe, Ankara, on July 7-8, marking the second time the country will host the alliance's premier gathering.
"I want to thank Türkiye for hosting this important meeting," Rutte said, according to a NATO press service statement.
"Türkiye has been a strong NATO ally for over 70 years, making invaluable contributions to our common security," the statement noted.
Rutte emphasized that leaders at the upcoming summit will continue working to make NATO "a stronger, fairer and more deterrent alliance" capable of responding to critical threats to security.
"At our next summit, leaders will continue to make NATO a stronger, fairer, and more deterrent alliance capable of responding to critical threats to our security," the Secretary-General stated.
This will be Türkiye's second time hosting a NATO summit. The country previously hosted the alliance's summit in Istanbul in 2004.
The announcement comes after NATO's most recent summit was held in The Hague at the end of June.
The Presidential Complex in Bestepe, where the 2026 summit will take place, serves as the official residence and principal workplace of the Turkish president.
