Türkiye’s low-cost airline AJet will begin direct flights from Ankara to Erbil, Iraq, starting Oct. 26. The route marks another step in the company’s strategy to expand its international flight network, with ticket prices starting at $79.
The flights will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, from Ankara’s Esenboga Airport to Erbil International Airport. The new route will increase AJet’s international destinations from the Turkish capital, following earlier launches to Tbilisi, Madrid, and Barcelona.
AJet General Manager Kerem Sarp announced the development on social media, stating that the airline aims to strengthen Ankara’s global connectivity. He noted that new routes contribute to highlighting the cultural and historical potential of the region by establishing "air bridges" between Türkiye’s capital and major world cities.
Sarp also underlined the company’s recent investments, including the addition of four new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft and the introduction of domestically produced next-generation lightweight seats designed to improve passenger comfort.
AJet is a Turkish low-cost airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. Headquartered in Ankara, it began operating under the AJet brand on March 31, 2024, following the rebranding of AnadoluJet, which had served domestic and regional markets since 2008.
The carrier operates from hubs at Ankara Esenboga, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, and Antalya airports, with the IATA code VF and the ICAO code TKJ. While maintaining a strong domestic presence, AJet has been rapidly expanding its international network, with a stated goal of raising its international route share above 50% and carrying 23 million passengers by 2025.
Its fleet includes Boeing 737 aircraft, with plans to add new jets through leases and acquisitions. AJet flights are integrated into Turkish Airlines’ Miles&Smiles loyalty program, allowing passengers to earn and redeem miles across the broader network.
