Antalya hotels welcome 2.7M foreign visitors in June, matching city's population

Hotels in Türkiye's southwestern province, Antalya, accommodated 2.69 million foreign visitors in June 2025—about the same as the city’s resident population—while recording the highest overall hotel occupancy rate in Türkiye at 84.35%, the Culture and Tourism Ministry reported.

Thus, Antalya stood out with the strongest tourism figures among other popular destinations, as Aydin recorded a 69.45% occupancy rate with 108,374 foreign visitors and Mugla 65.61% with 506,596.

However, in average overnight stays by foreign visitors, Aydin led all destinations at 4.94 nights, followed by Antalya at 4.36 and Mugla at 3.44.

Overnight stays rise, occupancy rates decline across Türkiye

Overall, Türkiye’s hotel occupancy rate in June fell from 61.95% a year earlier to 57.83%, despite a rise in overnight stays. Foreign visitors accounted for 39.76% of total occupancy and domestic travelers for 18.07%.

The total number of overnight stays reached 25.27 million in June, up from 24.59 million in June 2024. Of these, 17.37 million were by foreign tourists and 7.9 million by domestic visitors.

The average length of stay increased from 2.85 days to 2.91 days.

Russians lead in hotel overnights

Across the nation, Russian citizens recorded the highest number of overnights among foreign visitors in June, with 3.57 million, followed by German nationals with 3.35 million and British nationals with 2.13 million.

Other key markets included Poland (1.26 million), Romania (541,000), Kazakhstan (435,000), the Czech Republic (333,000), the Netherlands (308,000), Saudi Arabia (306,000), and Ukraine (290,000).

Sudanese visitors stayed the longest in Turkish hotels

When ranked by average length of stay, Sudanese visitors stayed the longest at 6.03 nights, followed by German visitors (4.44 nights), Luxembourg (4.38), Latvia (4.31), and Slovakia (4.20).

Russian tourists averaged 4.15 nights, while visitors from Lithuania, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands all stayed around four nights on average.

From January to June 2025, Türkiye generated $25.6 billion in tourism revenue and hosted 26.39 million visitors, up 1% from the same period in 2024. However, the number of foreign arrivals fell 1.13% to 21.4 million, indicating a mild slowdown in inbound tourism.
