Arcelik, the home appliance manufacturer owned by Türkiye's largest industrial conglomerate, Koc Holding, opened its €200 million ($224.1 million) washing machine factory in the western Turkish city of Manisa on Friday, expanding its global manufacturing network.
The facility, located in the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone, spans 92,000 square meters and combines automation, digitalization and research and development capabilities.
Arcelik took over the production campus in 2021.
The factory has an annual production capacity of nearly 4 million washing machines, with 44% of its output exported to 106 countries, Arcelik CEO Can Dincer said at the opening ceremony.
The company employs around 1,800 people across its washing machine and refrigerator operations in Manisa.
The new plant incorporates automated material-handling vehicles and robotic production systems, while its overall automation level has reached 75%, according to Dincer.
These systems are designed to improve production efficiency while reducing employees' physical workload.
Arcelik also focuses on energy and water efficiency at the Manisa campus. Its solar power plant generates electricity equivalent to approximately 46% of the factory's electricity needs, while a rainwater storage system helps reduce water consumption.
The company has cut direct greenhouse gas emissions by 95% at the facility, Dincer said.
The new facility is part of Arcelik's broader investment program in Türkiye. Koc Holding Durable Goods Group President Polat Sen said the company had invested approximately €458 million ($513.1 million) in the country over the previous five years, including the Manisa factory.
Sen linked the group's investment strategy to its confidence in Türkiye's future, highlighting technology and workforce development as key priorities.
As Koc Holding marked its 100th anniversary, he said the company continued to build on the country's industrial experience by combining established manufacturing capabilities with advanced technologies.
Arcelik operates 38 manufacturing facilities across 13 countries and employs nearly 45,000 people worldwide.
The company generated ₺280 billion ($5.6 billion) in consolidated net sales in the first half of 2026, down 10.4% year over year in inflation-adjusted terms, while overseas sales accounted for 65.3% of total revenue.
Its factories produced 14.9 million major household appliances during the period, compared with 16.8 million a year earlier.
