Syria’s Raqqa governorate, the Syrian Investment Authority and Türkiye-based companies Kayan Commercial Holding Group and MYB signed an agreement Thursday to establish an industrial and craft zone in the northern province.
The agreement was signed during events held as part of the 63rd Damascus International Fair, and the project covers 150 hectares of land and aims to organize industrial activity while creating more space and facilities for investors.
The Syrian Investment Authority said the project is designed to support production, employment and trade as part of Syria’s reconstruction process.
It also aims to help revive economic activity in Raqqa and surrounding areas and strengthen regional cooperation between Türkiye and Syria.
The planned zone is intended to bring industrial and craft activities together in a modern, serviced area and help attract new projects and investments in the coming period.
The project forms part of Raqqa Vision 2030, a broader development plan focused on rebuilding the governorate, upgrading infrastructure and strengthening its economic and investment base.
The vision includes plans for a 5-square-kilometer industrial city, a tourism and entertainment development of about 1.5 square kilometers along the Euphrates, and projects to expand agro-processing industries.
The agreement comes as the Syrian Investment Authority expands talks with foreign investors.
On Thursday, it hosted a high-level German economic delegation to discuss investment and cooperation, including opportunities in transport, agriculture, housing and tourism.
Authority Chairman Ahmed Rouwad Ramadan discussed Syria-Germany cooperation with the delegation, while officials outlined incentives under the new investment law and plans for a "one-stop investment window" to simplify procedures, according to a statement.
The discussions also focused on Syria’s reconstruction needs and the development of productive sectors, with the authority seeking to identify investment priorities and direct projects toward areas most in need of capital and development.
The authority aims to position Syria as a "land of investment opportunities and a platform for production and manufacturing," while the German delegation expressed interest in investment and potential partnerships.
