Türkiye has sustained its position as the world’s second-largest international builder, with 45 firms included in the Engineering News-Record (ENR) Top 250 list for 2025, up from 43 a year earlier, the Trade Ministry reported on Friday.
Eight of these companies ranked among the top 100 global contractors, the ministry noted.
According to ENR’s ranking, the leading Turkish firms included Enka at 46th, Ronesans at 50th, Limak at 61st, and Calik at 63rd, while Esta ranked 72nd, Tav 84th, Ant 88th, and Gulermak 92nd. In addition to contractors, eight Turkish engineering firms were included in ENR’s Top 225 International Design Firms list.
In addition to contractors, eight Turkish engineering firms were included in ENR’s Top 225 International Design Firms list.
ENR's ranking indicated that the Turkish contractors' combined project value reached $20.8 billion in 2024, representing 4.2% of the total international contracting market. This share placed Türkiye ahead of countries such as the Netherlands, Sweden, and Germany.
Historically, the number of Turkish firms in the ENR Top 250 has grown markedly — from only 8 companies in 2003 to a record 46 in 2017 and 2018.
In addition, Turkish contractors’ share of ENR’s global revenue pie stood at 3.7% in 2023, amounting to $18.5 billion in project revenues.
Meanwhile, China maintained its leading position with 76 firms and a total overseas project volume of $127.4 billion in ENR's 2025 list. The overall value of projects carried out by all 250 companies rose marginally by 0.5% year-on-year to $501.2 billion, as political uncertainty and rising labor and land costs weighed on growth.
According to the ministry's latest figures, Turkish contractors secured $6.18 billion in overseas projects in the first half of 2025. Since 1972, the total value of projects undertaken by Turkish firms has reached $544.9 billion, with 12,641 projects completed across 137 countries.
Key markets include Libya, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, while the industry has also expressed readiness to contribute to reconstruction efforts in Ukraine and Syria, according to the information from the same report.
Russia remains the single largest market with projects exceeding $103 billion, followed by Turkmenistan at $54 billion and Iraq at $36 billion. Regionally, Turkish contractors derive the largest share of their cumulative overseas business from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) at 43.2%, while the Middle East accounts for 25.5% and Africa for 17.9%.
