Türkiye has set its 2026 IMEI registration fee at 54,258 Turkish lira (about $1,263) after a presidential decision reduced the revaluation rate applied to taxes and fees to 18.95%.

Türkiye announced on Wednesday that key taxes and fees will rise by 18.95% in 2026, including vehicle taxes, stamp duties, and judicial and administrative fees, as well as the charge for exiting the country.

Under the decision, the 2026 IMEI registration fee was set at 54,258 Turkish lira (about $1,263). The fee stood at 45,614 lira (about $1,062) in 2025, meaning it will rise by 18.95% in the new year.

Had the previously announced revaluation rate of around 25% been applied, the fee would have reached 57,241 lira. However, the reduction lowered it by roughly 3,000 lira, and it will be applied officially at this level.

Revaluation rate cut

Over the past months, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the 2026 revaluation rate at 25.49%, leading many to expect IMEI registration fees to rise by the same percentage at the start of the new year, since the fee is paid when bringing a mobile phone into the country from abroad.

However, today, under a presidential decision, the 2026 IMEI registration fee was officially announced, and it emerged that the revaluation rate to be applied to taxes and fees was reduced from 25.49% to 18.95%.

120-day registration deadline

The IMEI registration fee is paid when bringing a phone from abroad. In other words, if you purchase a device in another country and bring it into Türkiye, you must pay the fee to complete the registration.

For example, the iPhone 17 costs 949 euros in Germany (about ₺47,931). If purchased in Germany, an additional 54,258 lira would be required to register the IMEI, bringing the total cost to ₺102,189. By comparison, the device is priced at ₺77,999 in Türkiye, meaning buying it domestically is about 25,000 lira cheaper.

Under these rules, a phone brought from abroad may be used in Türkiye for up to four months per year.

Accordingly, IMEI registration must be completed within 120 days of the device’s entry into the country.
