Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat held bilateral meetings with his Egyptian counterpart Hassan el-Hatip and officials from Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the 41st Ministerial Session of the OIC Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) on Monday.

Bolat shared details about the meetings on his social media account, saying that Ankara targets $25B trade with Cairo and Riyadh in the medium term.

Bolat noted that he met with Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el-Hatip, saying the meeting discussed the current state of bilateral trade relations, contracting services, and ways to strengthen cooperation—particularly in Africa.

Bolat said they emphasized their mutual intention to convene the “Türkiye–Egypt Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee Meeting” and the “High-Level Trade Consultation Mechanism” in the coming period.

For his part, el-Khatib praised the confidence of Turkish companies in the Egyptian economy, affirming the Egyptian government’s commitment to removing all obstacles and providing support for projects that boost exports, create jobs, and facilitate technology transfer.

It is worth noting that trade between the two countries reached around $4 billion in the first half of 2025, including approximately $2 billion in Egyptian exports.
