TikTok released new findings on the future of digital entertainment, showing rapid growth in Türkiye’s live streaming economy.

The report, prepared with global consultancy Kearney, points to a major shift in how users produce and consume online content and outlines the country’s potential to become a regional hub.

Strong growth in Türkiye’s live streaming market

The report states that Türkiye’s live streaming market reached about $1.6 billion in 2024, as reported by T24. TikTok and Kearney expect this figure to surpass $5 billion by 2030.

Analysts link this expansion to several factors:

  • A young and active user base
  • High mobile penetration
  • Wider access to in-app production tools
  • A rise in brand collaborations and commercial partnerships

The report adds that Türkiye’s demographic profile, social media adoption, and cultural production capacity give the country a realistic chance to serve as a central live-streaming hub for the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye.

Audience numbers rise, consumption habits shift in Türkiye

The report identifies a steady rise in viewer numbers, with weekly live-streaming audiences in Türkiye now reaching about 10.2 million users, and 16% of social media users following live broadcasts.

Users in Türkiye watch about 13 minutes of live content per day, most often around 9 p.m.

Young people dominate the audience. Those aged 18 to 34 represent 72% of viewers, while users aged 34 and above make up roughly 20% to 25%.

The report also notes that live streaming is no longer a format limited to gaming. Users increasingly watch music sessions, casual conversation streams, sports discussions, and educational content.

This trend signals that live streaming has become a regular media habit, not a temporary trend.

Job creation, Türkiye’s wider digital economy

The expanding sector is also influencing employment. In fact, TikTok and Kearney estimate that live streaming in Türkiye will create 133,000 full-time jobs and 126,000 indirect jobs by 2030.

This workforce includes creators, agency staff, technical teams, platform employees, and service providers.

The report states that improving creators’ digital skills, strengthening production infrastructure, and developing shared safety standards such as age verification and content moderation, will support long-term growth.

According to the findings, the sector accounted for 0.15% of Türkiye’s gross domestic product (GDP) last year through direct and indirect economic activity. The report argues that these conditions could help Türkiye evolve into a regional center for content production and distribution, not only a large domestic market.

TikTok’s findings show that several dynamics drive this shift. Mobile devices make production easier, users value real-time interaction, and audiences are embracing non-gaming formats.

Because live streaming operates within a broad ecosystem of creators, agencies, platforms, and viewers, the report describes the sector as a scalable creative industry.

It states that the format now supports entrepreneurship, drives new business models, and contributes to the growth of the digital economy.
