Bolshoi Theatre to make first-ever Istanbul debut with 2 iconic ballets

Russia’s Bolshoi Theatre will perform in Istanbul for the first time in its history, according to the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA).

The company will appear at the Ataturk Cultural Center as part of the Türkiye Culture Route Festival, with a special tour mounted by production company Art Seasons.

2 classics across 4 nights

The company will stage "Romeo and Juliet" on Sept. 26–27 and Swan Lake on Sept. 29-30.

Both performances will be accompanied by the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra under conductor Anton Grishanin.

Star principals to lead

Bolshoi’s principal ballerina Svetlana Zakharova is set to dance Juliet on Sept. 26.

Other principal dancers joining the tour include Artemy Belyakov, Egor Gerashchenko, Elizaveta Kokoreva, Alyona Kovalyova, Denis Savin, and Yulia Stepanova.

Full-scale staging on the move

An approximately 350-strong team of dancers, musicians, and technical crew will travel to Istanbul for the run.

Original sets and costumes from the Bolshoi’s historic stage will also be brought for this special tour.
