The 13th Bosphorus Film Festival will run in Istanbul from Nov. 7–14, presenting 31 short and documentary films across national and international competitions, with Anadolu Agency named the festival’s global communication partner.
Organized by the Bosphorus Culture and Arts Foundation with support from Türkiye’s Culture and Tourism Ministry, this year’s National Short Fiction Competition features “Dreamt by Another” (Vikki Bardot), “Making a Crane Bird” (Nevzat Dogan), “Defne” (Hamdi Furkan Yildirim), “Eudaimonia” (Gizem Ibak), “A Three Dog Night” (Omer Yavuzoglu), “Mumeyyiz” (Turgut Kanal), “Sakin Soyleme” (Ezgi Temel), “Susmuslar Esigi” (Emel Bulut), “Hatirlanacak Ne Var?” (Oguz Akyol) and “Kesik Kulak” (Ismail Hakki Kocak).
In the International Short Fiction Competition, audiences will discover “Attitude” and “Thread” (Iran), “Comunque Bene” (Italy), “Don’t You Dare” (Russia), “Ne Me Quitte Pas” and “Video Store 2001” (Spain), “Pet-Extermination” (Norway), “There Will Come Soft Rains” (United Kingdom), and “We Had Fun” and “Ya Hanouni” by Linda Lo (France).
The Documentary Competition will screen “Tree Man” (Mehmet Ali Poyraz), “In the Shade of the Poplar Tree” (Kenan Diler), “Mukaddes” (Lutfi Oz), “Nena Sena” (Dino Omerovic), “Nilgun” (Tolga Oskar), “Free Words: A Poet from Gaza” (Abdullah Harun Ilhan), “The Wedding of the Pir’s” (Yalcin Ciftci), “Sessiz Cizgiler” (Caner Kaldi), “Tanistigima Memnun Oldum” (Gunes Kazdal and Jehan Barbur), “Back to the Land” (Kerem Kurtulus), and “Ustad Mehmed: Siyah Kalem” (Murat K. Toy and Selin Aktas).
The Best Documentary Film will receive ₺100,000 (over $2,800; ₺ is Türkiye’s currency), while the Jury Special Award will grant ₺50,000 (about $1,191). In short film categories, the Best Film in both national and international competitions will each earn ₺50,000, and the Grand Prize winner will receive ₺100,000.
