Robert Pattinson, the British actor known worldwide for major franchises such as Twilight and Harry Potter, has said a Turkish name is among the artists he listens to most.
The 39-year-old star, who has recently been in the spotlight with the film Odyssey, also spoke about how he unwinds despite a demanding schedule.
In a GQ interview, Pattinson said the past year has been unusually intense, describing 2025 as “profoundly exhausting” but “a really good year,” and adding that he has been “nonstop since last summer.”
Pattinson said he has been listening to more music than usual over the past few days. While browsing Apple Music, he pointed to a list of the artists he has been playing most frequently, naming Bob Marley, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Bertrand Chamayou and the Gap Band.
He also added that he does not use Spotify and relies on Apple Music instead, pulling out his phone to check his listening stats as he named the artists he has been playing most in “the last couple of days,” including a Turkish singer named Nilufer Yanya, whom he called “definitely very cool. I really love her.”
Pattinson has continued to attract public interest with his upcoming film Odyssey, which has been widely discussed in recent months. According to the report, the film is expected to be released in July 2026.
The project has already generated significant anticipation, driven by both its casting and what is described as a compelling story. Pattinson is set to share leading roles with Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Zendaya, a lineup that has contributed to early excitement around the production.
In addition to Odyssey, Pattinson is also expected to appear in Drama, another film referenced as part of his near-term slate.
The report said the movie is anticipated to be released in April. Pattinson’s schedule, described as intense, has not prevented him from making time for rest.
The actor’s comments in the GQ interview suggested that music has become a key part of how he relaxes, particularly in recent days, when he noted an increase in listening.
Nilufer Yanya was born in 1995 in London to a Turkish father and a Barbadian mother. She began engaging with music at an early age and cited influences including the Cure, Nina Simone and Bill Withers.
Yanya began gaining recognition in 2016, and she released her first album, Miss Universe, in 2019. Her albums Inside Out and Painless were also described as having been well received by music listeners.
In a previous interview referenced in the report, Yanya spoke about the story behind her name. She said her mother was pregnant while staying in Istanbul with her father, and that her mother heard the name “Nilufer” on the radio and loved it. According to Yanya, her mother said that if she had a daughter, she would give her that name.
Pattinson, described in the report as one of the world’s highest-earning actors, offered a brief but emphatic endorsement of Yanya’s music, an appreciation that also drew renewed attention to the London-born artist’s Turkish roots.
