A children’s play that casts young audiences as superheroes protecting the planet has begun its third tour of Türkiye. When the tour ends, the production will have been performed for children in every one of the country’s 81 provinces.

The play, "Super Heroes: Protecting Our World," opened the new season in Hakkari. Through Dec. 23, it will give 74 performances in 37 provinces.

Two earlier tours, held last winter and spring, drew more than 31,000 young spectators, organizers said. The production is run by Halkbank’s children’s theater program.

Play teaches children to save and recycle

Directed by Ergun Ergok, the show uses songs and games to teach children about saving money, protecting the environment and using resources wisely.

Actress Azra Akin plays a teacher who guides the children on stage. She is joined this season by Esra Gultekin, Cemal Gokdemir and Emir Fatih Yay.

Rather than sitting back as spectators, children are invited to take part as heroes who look after the future. The play’s central message is "reduce, reuse, recycle."

"Children need to learn about saving the environment and responsible consumption at an early age," said Recep Suleyman Ozdil, Halkbank’s general manager. He said the play offers children fun while teaching them the importance of using resources efficiently.

Akin, who is starting her third season with the show, said performing for children in new cities is a highlight.

"The pure curiosity and energy in the children’s eyes is our greatest motivation," she said. "We don’t treat children as passive viewers but as superheroes who protect the future"
