Award-winning director Dervis Zaim has been named jury president for the National Feature Competition at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Türkiye’s most prestigious cinema event.
Submissions for the 63rd edition taking place from Oct. 24 to 31 remain open through Monday, 11:59 p.m., with entries to be evaluated by Zaim and his newly appointed panel.
Dervis Zaim's work has earned widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards across national and international festivals for his feature films and documentaries. Each film grounds everyday life in traditional Anatolian art to explore identity and trauma.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bogazici University, a Master’s degree in cultural studies from the University of Warwick, and a Doctorate in fine arts in cinema from Maltepe University.
He has collected 18 awards across five editions of the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival for landmark works including ''Somersault in a Coffin'' (1996), ''Elephants and Grass'' (2000), ''Waiting for Heaven'' (2006), ''Dot'' (2008), and ''Shadows and Faces'' (2010).

His filmography also features ''Mud,'' ''Cycle,'' ''Fish,'' ''Dream,'' and ''Flash Drive,'' as well as the feature documentaries ''Parallel Trips'' and ''Tavuri.''
In addition to directing, the multidisciplinary artist writes and produces most of his feature films. He won the 1994 Yunus Nadi Novel Award for ''Ares in Wonderland,'' and published his second novel, ''The Vision'' in 2019.
The Best Picture winner in the National Feature Film Competition will receive ₺5 million ($105,060) at the 63rd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, according to a statement from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality.
The Antalya Film Forum, an industry platform supporting young and independent filmmakers, will run Oct. 25–27 for its 13th edition and award a combined ₺1.45 million in prizes.
In total, this year’s festival will present awards across 31 categories, providing ₺11 million in financial support to the film industry.
