"Emily in Paris" is coming to an end.
Netflix confirmed the romantic comedy will wrap up with a sixth and final season, set to premiere Dec. 24 after five seasons that took star Lily Collins' character from Chicago to the streets of Paris and beyond.
Creator and showrunner Darren Star confirmed the news in a statement to Variety, expressing gratitude for the show's run. Star called making the series with the cast and crew "the trip of a lifetime," and thanked Netflix, Paramount and fans for joining Emily's journey.
He added that the team "can't wait to share this last chapter" with viewers, a fitting sentiment given the show's run of success, having spent 32 weeks on Netflix's global top 10 English-language TV chart and reached number one in 90 countries across its first five seasons.
Lily Collins marked the end of filming with an emotional Instagram post reflecting on her seven years playing Emily Cooper.
"I’m speechless. It’s impossible to find the words for what this journey has meant to me. For so many years, Emily has been a part of my life, and through every season, she’s continued to surprise me, inspire me, and challenge me," the actress said.
Collins also expressed gratitude to the show's crew, writers, directors and castmates, calling them family and crediting them with making the world of the series feel real. She told fans she would carry the experience with her forever.
Netflix's official logline for the season states that Emily will face defining choices that test her ultimate loyalties, as unexpected career conflicts and shifting relationships push her to decide between her career, her heart and the life she's built in Paris.
The season expands the show's geography beyond France, with production filming in Greece and also heading to Monaco for the first time before returning to Paris.
The final season stars Lily Collins alongside Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Lucien Laviscount, Eugenio Franceschini, Thalia Besson, Paul Forman, Arnaud Binard, Minnie Driver, Bryan Greenberg and Michele Laroque.
