Ewen MacIntosh dies at 50
British television mourns the loss of a beloved figure as Ewen MacIntosh, renowned for his role in ‘The Office,’ passes away at the age of 50
Ewen MacIntosh, known for his portrayal of Keith Bishop in the BBC comedy “The Office,” has died at 50.
The late actor’s talent agency, JustRight Management, confirmed his passing, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the beloved comedy genius.
Ricky Gervais, who co-created and starred in “The Office,” paid tribute to MacIntosh on social media. “Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP,” Gervais wrote.
MacIntosh’s character became central to several famous episodes of the show as he was known for his deadpan delivery. His most memorable scenes included offering inappropriate romantic advice while eating a scotch egg and frustrating his office manager with his straightforwardness during an appraisal.
Apart from “The Office,” MacIntosh had appeared in shows like “Little Britain,” “Miranda,” and “Lead Balloon.” He also featured in various films and participated in the “Celebrity Come Dine with Me” reality series and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
MacIntosh had been suffering from ill health for the past two years, but his talent agency noted his enduring impact on people. “Ewen was a wonderful actor and an even better human being. He made people laugh and possessed such a kind heart,” said Chelle Just from JustRight Management.
Plans for a private cremation for family and close friends, along with a celebratory memorial later in the year, are underway. Tributes have been pouring in from colleagues and fans alike, who remember MacIntosh not only for his comedic talent but also for his empathy, kindness, and integrity.
