The 38-day event at Kadir Has Fuar Parki features concerts, stage shows, traditional fairground games, and open-air summer film screenings, and has drawn hundreds of thousands of visitors since it opened.

At the event held in Kadir Has Fuar Parki, the Gendarmerie General Command Band performed national, historical, and cultural melodies alongside beloved works of Turkish music.

Band traces its origins to 1932

The Gendarmerie General Command Band was established on Oct. 17, 1932, originally under the name Gendarmerie General Command Band in Ankara's Ulus district. It was later relocated several times and eventually settled in 1967 at the Sehit Orgeneral Esref Bitlis Barracks in Ankara's Guvercinlik district, where it remains based today.

Beyond its duties at official state ceremonies, the band regularly performs at festivals and public events across Turkiye, and has released a number of albums aimed at popularizing multi-part orchestral music nationwide.

It frequently tours provinces throughout the country, having performed similar concerts in cities such as Osmaniye and Karaman in recent months, often featuring folk songs and marches tied to Turkish history and culture.

Numerous pieces from different regions and eras, including "Altaylardan Tuna'ya," "Cirpinirdi Karadeniz," "Kerkuk Zindani," "Uzun Ince Bir Yoldayim," "Bahce Duvarindan Astim" and "Erik Dali," were presented for music lovers to enjoy.

Speaking at the event, Kocasinan Mayor Ahmet Colakbayrakdar said that through FUAR38, they continue to bring the people of Kayseri together with cultural, artistic and musical events.

Colakbayrakdar, who expressed pleasure at hosting the Gendarmerie General Command Band in the city, said FUAR38 was bringing residents together through one beautiful event after another.

He said officials were experiencing the joy of bringing "our valuable Gendarmerie band, which holds a special place in our nation's heart," together with residents of Kayseri. He added that the pieces performed carried traces of the country's history, culture and shared memory.

"This evening, we are not just listening to a concert here; we are also building a strong bond between our past and our present, and experiencing our national and spiritual sentiments together," he said.
