Halit Ergenc and Meryem Uzerli have taken the next step in their long-awaited screen reunion, joining the table read for “Spring in Imroz” (Imroz'da Bahar) ahead of filming now planned for April.
The two actors, best known internationally for playing Sultan Suleiman and Hurrem Sultan in the hit Turkish drama “Magnificent Century” (Muhtesem Yuzyil), met with the rest of the cast as preparations moved forward for the new film.
The project had already drawn attention because it brought Ergenc and Uzerli back together 15 years after their widely watched television partnership.
With the reading rehearsal now completed, the film has entered a more concrete stage of production.
“Spring in Imroz” is directed by award-winning filmmaker Ozcan Alper and marks a new collaboration between two of Turkish television’s most recognizable actors.
The table read brought the cast together before filming and offered a first look at the project in motion.
Reports on the rehearsal said the team focused on the characters’ inner worlds and the deeper layers of the script as shooting preparations continued.
Filming is expected to begin in April, giving the project a clearer timeline after earlier reports first revealed the reunion.
The film is set on Imroz, the historical name of Gokceada, Türkiye’s largest island in the Aegean Sea.
The story centers on two people whose lives cross on the island and follows the emotional weight of their pasts as they face the possibility of a second chance. At its core, the film asks whether love can return in a new season of life.
While full plot details have not yet been released, the project is framed as an emotional drama built around personal reckoning and renewed possibility.
Ergenc and Uzerli became internationally known through “Magnificent Century,” one of Türkiye’s most widely exported television dramas. Their on-screen partnership remained one of the defining elements of the series and helped turn both actors into well-known names far beyond Türkiye.
That history has helped fuel interest in “Spring in Imroz,” which now enters its next phase with the lead actors gathered around the script and cameras expected to roll this month.
