The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) opened the new Istanbul Bosphorus Museum, along with its inaugural exhibition, in Kabatas.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Kabatas Transfer Center, IBB Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan explained that they had designed and put into service Kabatas Transfer Center not only as a hub connecting different transportation systems but also as a public space that strengthens the relationship Istanbul residents have with the city.
Aslan noted that today, while looking at the view here, they were bringing Istanbul residents together with the Istanbul Bosphorus Museum, which tells its story, saying, "The Bosphorus is a unique geography that shapes Istanbul's cultural memory alongside its natural landscape. Besides being a waterway connecting two continents, it is a living space where people have lived, worked, socialized, traveled, and interacted with one another for centuries."
Referring to the exhibition they opened, "We Dragged the Moonlight Through the Waters: A Bosphorus Story," Aslan said, "Curated by Ali Kayaalp, this exhibition approaches the Bosphorus not merely as a view, but as a place that has been lived in, experienced, and imagined.
Bringing together historical maps, engravings, photographs, postcards, books, and periodicals along with works by important artists of Turkish painting, the exhibition tells the story of the Bosphorus's transformation through the traces of different periods and different perspectives."

Aslan stated that works from the IBB Library and painting collection, as well as very important private collections, come together in this exhibition.
Reminding that they had reduced admission to Yerebatan Cistern to one lira, Aslan announced that admission to Serefiye Cistern would also be one lira going forward and that if the proposal could be prepared in time, they would present the matter to the IBB Council next Monday.
