Jaafar Jackson, fresh off his star-making performance as his famous uncle in the biographical feature "Michael," has joined Will Smith in the upcoming action thriller "Supermax," Deadline reported Tuesday.

Directed by David Gordon Green, "Supermax" follows two FBI agents, played by Smith and AnnaSophia Robb, tasked with solving a murder committed inside an ultra-high-security prison. The film is written by David Weil and David J. Rosen.

Smith is producing under his Westbrook Studios banner alongside Adam Fishbach, while Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are producing separately for The Picture Company. Executive producers include Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, Thom Zadra, Spencer Ela, Weil and Rosen, with Natalie Weil serving as associate producer.

Details regarding Jackson's character were not immediately disclosed, though sources said his role is central to the storyline. A production schedule and targeted release date on Amazon Prime Video have not yet been announced.

Jackson made his acting debut portraying his uncle in "Michael," which ranks as the second-highest-grossing film of 2026 globally and fourth-highest in North America for the year, as of Aug. 3 box office figures.

One of Jermaine Jackson's seven children, Jaafar has said acting wasn't something he'd ever envisioned for himself before the chance to audition for the role came along. He was announced as the actor cast to play Michael Jackson back in January 2023.
