Japan's trade promotion agency is bringing several major TV broadcasters to Istanbul for meetings with Turkish media producers, as interest in content partnerships between the two countries grows.
The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) confirmed the initiative and pointed to the global success of Turkish TV dramas as a main reason. The meetings, hosted by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, will feature presentations by Japanese broadcasters and are expected to spur discussions on co-productions and Turkish-language versions of Japanese shows.
ABC TV, one of Japan's oldest commercial networks, will present a variety of content. This includes shows that have done well in Japan and series made for digital platforms, all of which are possible options for Turkish-language adaptation.
Chukyo TV (CTV), founded in 1968, produces dramas, entertainment shows, and documentaries, and has strong ratings in its region. TV Tokyo, which started in 1964, is known for original programs for children and young adults and for its work in production, promotion, and merchandise. Yomiuri TV (YTV), based in the Kansai region, offers shows like the psychological thrillers "The Ransom is Kidnapping" and "The Unknown Me," as well as the romantic drama "Pure Soul," which has attracted viewers from around the world.
The meetings in Istanbul are among the most organized efforts to date between Japanese and Turkish broadcasters. JETRO's involvement demonstrates strong support for the growth of content trade between the two countries.
